Presentation of the “Dieci e Lode” Project

We receive and gladly forward news about an important scientific and cultural event.
On May 31, 2024, the “Guido Fanti” Multipurpose Hall of the Regione Emilia Romagna headquarters in Bologna will host the presentation of the “Dieci e Lode” project. This initiative, co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and the European Union, aims to digitize climatic data from former Italian colonies (Eritrea, Somalia, Ethiopia, Libya), with the goal of preserving and making accessible approximately 40,000 pages of historical records online.
The project is under the scientific leadership of Professor Alessandro Ceppi from the Politecnico di Milano and involves the collaboration of several prestigious academic and research institutions, including the Polytechnic University of Milan and CREA – the Research Center for Agriculture and Environment. The event will feature distinguished speakers from the fields of meteorology and history, including Dr. Luigi Iafrate from CREA, who is also a member of GREAL’s Scientific Committee.
This gathering will provide a significant platform to discuss the potential of historical climatic archives and their relevance to scientific research and the understanding of climate change in the affected regions.
