From Tuesday, June 11 to Friday, June 28, the exhibition titled ” Il Grande Viaggio dell’Ingegner Albertini. La “Heimen Sucai” nei Mari Artici. Maggio-Settembre 1929″ will be held in the atrium of the European University of Rome. The exhibition consists of 12 panels containing photographs and prints related to the expedition, accompanied by extensive quotes from the text ” La “Heimen Sucai” nei Mari Artici ” by Gianni Albertini himself.
The exhibition has been organized by GREAL, “Geographic Research and Application Laboratory,” one of the Research Centers of the European University of Rome, and has been promoted by its director, Prof. Gianluca Casagrande. Texts by Giovanna d’Urso and Gianluca Casagrande, while the graphic design by Cecilia Risso.
The Arctic expedition led by Albertini aimed to search for and rescue any survivors of the airship “Italia.” During the journey, however, studies and research were also conducted in the fields of radiotelegraphy, medicine, and biology, in addition to a systematic visit and exploration of remote places. About 10,000 nautical miles and 700 km of movement on land and ice pack were covered.
«In noi rimarrà per sempre il peso dell’impresa:
ci inseguirà per tutta la vita la febbre di cercare
senza speranza ciò che non si trova,
l’ansia dello scrutare ciò che non esiste,
oltre la nebbia, oltre lo spazio, oltre noi stessi.
A mia madre.
Alle madri dei miei compagni»
(Gianni Albertini)
