Educational Field Trip to Sutri with GREAL

On April 10th, 2025, a field trip to Sutri was organized by Professor Bizzarri with the involvement of the GREAL geographic research laboratory. Students from the Degree Program in Tourism and Territorial Development and the Degree Program in Primary Education Sciences took part in the activity.

The itinerary included a visit to the Roman amphitheater, entirely carved into the tuff rock and dating back to the Imperial age, the Mithraeum – later transformed into a rock church dedicated to the Madonna del Parto – and the historic center of the town, which preserves evidence from the Etruscan, Roman, and medieval periods.

During the day, the group also visited the municipal library of Sutri, where an ancient book restoration workshop was taking place. This gave students the opportunity to observe conservation techniques for literary heritage up close.

The visit was part of the educational activities of the participating courses, aiming to foster direct knowledge of the territory and its cultural assets.
