Between November 9th and 11th, an international workshop took place at the Universidad de Jaén (UJA), Spain. The title of the initiative was “ Multidisciplinary Actions to Add Value to the project ‘Archaeological and Environmental Risk Chart and Digital Actions for Smart Tourism of tumbledown Historica-Cultural Heritage in Natural Landscapes of the province of Jaén (DIGITALESCAPE)”. The event was organized by the Area de Historia Moderna, led by Prof. José Miguel Delgado Barrado, and saw the participation of an interdisciplinary workgroup of academics, researchers, and experts from Spain, Italy, Portugal, and the UK.
The workshop included seminars, open discussions, and on-field observations in relevant sites in Aldeaquemada and the Parque Nacional de Despeñaperros.
GREAL has been involved since 2020 in the activities of the “Proyecto Sierra Morena (ProSiMo)” and its participation in the workshop was a first step towards a more structured cooperation with the important UJA group, whose expertise includes multidisciplinary applied research by innovative technologies and digital humanities.
