This first volume of the GREAL Reports series is dedicated to a selection of studies and activities developed around the Arctic scientific research and communication expedition Polarquest2018, carried out by an international working group aboard the eco-sustainable vessel NANUQ. The operation, conducted between July 21 and September 4, 2018, aimed to develop new approaches and techniques for scientific investigation and storytelling in Arctic environments, at a time when the region is undergoing increasing territorialization.
The contributions collected here include preparatory studies and final reports from some of the activities carried out during the expedition. They represent a range of perspectives—differing in background, purpose, and subject matter—offering a multifaceted account of a multidisciplinary and, in many respects, innovative mission.
