This 1:1 scale 3D model of the Norge airship was created as part of the Shadow Of Norge project, aiming to digitally reconstruct the historical dirigible in its original shape and size. The model was developed using 3DStudio Max, a professional tool for 3D modeling and animation.
The reconstruction is based primarily on original engineering drawings by Umberto Nobile, carefully followed to recreate the airship line by line. Where direct references were incomplete, historical photographs and archival footage were used to ensure accuracy and consistency with the original design.
The digital model has been geolocated within the Shadow Of Norge augmented reality app, allowing users to visualize the dirigible over symbolic locations it flew over during the historic 1926 expedition to the North Pole. This immersive experience combines historical research with cutting-edge technology to preserve and share a remarkable chapter of polar exploration.
